The cross country team has been accomplishing a lot this year, so we have a little recap of what they have done so far this season!
Last Saturday the Bobcat cross country teams competed at the Dutchman Invitational at Union Canal Park, hosted by Lebanon Valley College. In the girls’ race, Maddie Warrender, Margaret Carroll, and Trinity Schraudner finished in the top 11 to pace the Lady Bobcats to a second-place team trophy. This is the first team trophy for the girls in the history of the program at Northeastern.
In the boys’ race, Ben Kelly and Noah Hake finished in the top twenty to pace the Bobcats to a seventh place team finish.
On Tuesday afternoon the Bobcat cross country teams traveled to York Township Park for a meet against Red Lion, West York, Gettysburg, and York Tech. In the boys’ race, Noah Hake pulled away from the field on the last hill, surging to a 9-second victory to lead the team to three wins on the day. Fellow seniors Ben Kelly and DJ Haas ran solid races to pull out a division win against Red Lion. Josh McKenzie and Ryan Hussey completed the scoring for the Bobcats.
Then, in the girls’ race, freshmen Margaret Carroll and Trinity Schraudner patiently paced the pack for two miles, along with senior Maddie Warrender. On the final loop, Margaret distanced herself from the lead pack winning her first overall victory of her career. Trinity and Maddie finished two-four to help the Lady Bobcats to a three-win day. Rose Rush and Micaela Bradley ran strong races to complete the scoring for the team.
Both teams are 6 and 2 on the season. They travel to Big Spring Saturday for the Ben Bloser Invitational.
The Northeastern Tennis Team had their biggest win ever yesterday they took down a very good Susquehannock team by a 4-1 score.
Number one singles player, Courtnee Hoff played well and battled hard but came up short against a very strong opponent.
Sophomore Jillian Laughman played her best match of the year as she won 6-1; 6-4.
Brynn MacDonald remained undefeated at third singles with a strong showing and a 6-1; 6-1 score.
The first doubles team of Addonya Onwukonjo and Aubrey Shaffer had the longest match as they won in three sets, 6-2; 5-7; 6-1.
