For the first time in Northeastern history, it was a banner year for the northeastern girl soccer team. Ranking first, the soccer team claimed the title of co-division champions along with Dallastown. Brittany Arentz scoring 34 goals and Amanda Bentz with the most assists on the team lead the team as captains, along with center fullback Celeste Workman. Their goal as captain is to be a positive role model both on the turf and off. With a record of 15-4 and 0 the girls claimed their first banner. The dream team’s chemistry transfers from on the field to off seamlessly. “I would say our team is very close, I mean we have done many things, out of, off the soccer field, we did a team sleepover a couple of weeks ago, that was a lot of fun that most people were at, so we are a very close team,” said Brittany Arentz. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to come out on top. but not without a little superstitious help. “First of all, never ever wear a braid in your hair for game day cause it brings bad luck, and we lose. So that’s the big one and also we have to take a shot of milk before every game. Well I have to take a shot of milk or else we lose,” Gabby Versace tells High Street Media. The team's biggest rival is Central, they have a long history of difficult games with the panthers, but as of last year, Northeastern girls have a repeating record of defeats over central during the division games. The 2016 soccer season will be one to remember for these girls. Making history with their closest friends is an experience that won't soon be forgotten. For High Street Media, I am Damon Faulkner.
