"Almost every student and staff member know each other at Northeastern High School, but down at room 107, it's a different story. School can sometimes be frightening when you're a new student, but it's not always just the students who are frightened. Sometimes it's teachers too. Mrs. Sawyer, the new German teacher at Northeastern High School, who is not afraid of being new" said Tyler Funke. "The people that I met here so far, are really nice. All the teachers, teachers in the neighboring classrooms have been so helpful" said Mrs. Sawyer. "Teaching may not just be a job for her, but also a hobby" as Tyler Funke spoke. "I've been teaching for probably about 4 years. My teaching experience has been broken up because I taught for a little bit in Russia and then I lived in Europe for three years and then I moved here to the U.S in 2006, and I wasn't able to teach right away because I had to work on getting my teaching certificate" proclaimed Mrs. Sawyer. "Family life at home for her was different" Tyler Funke said. "My mom is also Russian but my dad, he lives in Ukraine. My parents got divorced when I was two years old, but my dad, he always lived in Ukraine, but when they met, he was in the military where I'm from, the town of Kirov, Russia" exclaimed Mrs. Sawyer. "She has been to many places, but came here, like most people, with a reason" said Tyler Funke. "I originally am from Russia. I lived in Russia from my birth until I graduated from the university, then I went to Germany, lived there, worked there for a year. Then I also worked in Salzburg, Austria for two years and then I came from Salzburg to right here. I came here because I got married" said Mrs. Sawyer. "And meeting everyone in the school should make being here ten times better" said Tyler Funke. "I'm very excited to meet everyone. I am still meeting new teachers. The school is big so you can't meet everyone during the first few weeks, so I'm constantly meeting new people, new students. Also yesterday, Mrs. Bell took me on a short tour in the cafeteria and I met a Russian student, so it was very exciting to speak Russian with him and it was interesting too because he's originally from Canada, but his parents are Russian. He was born in Canada" stated Mrs. Sawyer.
