On Tuesday afternoon the Bobcat cross country teams competed at Spring Grove against York Catholic, Bermudian Springs, and the host Rockets. In the boys’ race, Northeastern’s twosome of Ben Kelly and Noah Hake chased the leaders over the hilly three-mile course to finish in third and fourth place overall. The next pack would decide the meet, and with Brody McElwain finishing 7th and Robert Yoka finishing 11th, the Bobcats earned three victories to remain undefeated for the season.
In the girls’ race, Rose Rush and Micaela Bradley broke away from the pack at the top of a 300-foot ascent just after the mile mark to finish second and third overall. With the help of a strong mid-race surge from Emily Rau, the Lady Bobcats were able to claim two wins in the quadrangular meet to raise their record to 4-2 for the season.
The Bobcats travel to the Big Spring Invitational this Saturday and then host their only home meet next Tuesday starting at 4:30 PM.
