Yesterday we had 3 games on the schedule, so let’s get to those scores. Girls soccer had the first game yesterday starting at 7:00 as they were away to face Central York and fought hard but lost in a close game 1-0. The next game was girls volleyball at 7:15 as they took on Susquehannock away also and had 3 close games, 25-11, 26-24, 25-13, but took a loss of 3-0. The final game was boys soccer as they took on Central York at home at 7:30 and they sadly lost 7-0.
*Three of the lady Bobcat Tennis players went to the county tournament yesterday and all three had excellent days.
Adonnya Onwukonjo played a very good opponent from Dallastown and, while she lost, played perhaps her best match of the season.
Courtnee Hoff came extremely close to pulling off, what would have been, one of the biggest upsets of the tournament as she took on Southwestern's number two player to three sets that lasted over three hours. Courtnee only started playing tennis a year and a half ago and her improvement in this game has been nothing short of phenomenal!
Evonne Qiu had the tournament of her life as she lost the first set 6-1, refused to quit, changed up her strategies and won the next two sets 6-4; 7-5. This comeback was even more impressive as this Spring Grove opponent had beaten Evonne in the duel meet in straight sets earlier this season.
In her next match, Evonne played a very strong opponent from Dover and lost that match but not before the Bobcat trio impressed a number of coaches and opponents with their quality play and improvement from last season.
The team returns to Southwestern on Monday for doubles as Evonne, Courtnee, Brynn MacDonald and Lindsey Myers will be participating and looking forward to this event.
*Today we have two games, let’s see when those will be. First, field hockey will be away to take on West York at 4:15. Today is also Football Friday as the football team takes on Dallastown at 7:00 at home. We have some exciting sports today, hopefully you are able to come out to either to support either team.
