The Lady Bobcat Tennis Team pulled off one of their biggest upsets ever as they played extremely well in taking down a very good Southwestern team with a 3-2 victory. This is the same Southwestern team that had beaten annual division champion Dallastown just a week ago.
All the lady Cats played like heroes as everyone gave it everything they had in this great effort!
First singles, Courtnee Hoff took on the reigning county champion in a strong display
of skills before losing to a very strong opponent.
Jillian Laughman also played extremely well against another very tough Southwestern adversary before losing in a long, competitive match.
Third singles, Brynn MacDonald got the Cats on the board as she brought her exciting, slashing game into full force and won 6-1; 6-2 over a good opponent
Jiselle Castano teamed up with Madison Laughman in the crucial first doubles match as they overcome several efforts by Southwestern and came out on top in a key match to knot the team score at 2-2 with a very impressive 6-4; 6-4 victory.
With the match in the balance, it came down to Aubrey Shaffer and Taylor Forry whose score in the second set was knotted at 5-5 after Aubrey and Taylor had won the first set 6-3. As they continued to raise their level of play, they clinched this historic victory with a 7-5 win.
Additional strong performances were turned in by Olivia Reik, Laiba Khan, Lael Marshall, Katie Harrison, Laura Shearer, Abby Gerber, Emily Dellinger and Amy Rizzo.
The team's next match will be this Monday against Dover on the Bobcat's courts.
Yesterday,there was a cross country meet at Gettysburg. The girls team swept, going 23-33 against Gettysburg, 15-50 against Littlestown, and 16-46 against New Oxford.
Today, the only sport on the schedule for tonight is the football game at Mifflin county. Good luck to the team!
