Good Morning Northeastern
Yesterday,the Bobcat Tennis team picked up their biggest win ever with a 3-2 victory over District power Hempfield, a school two and a half times larger than Northeastern.
Josh Sanderson and Lance Fries battled hard but lost to two very strong opponents at first and second singles.
The first doubles team of Ryan McElwain and Haydyn Golden played extremely well in their debut together as they won in straight sets, 6-2; 6-3.
Sam Sidle and Erick Sowers picked up the Cats second point as they dominated in second doubles, 6-0; 6-2.
The match then came down to Tony Damian at third singles as he battled long and hard before clinching the win, 6-2; 6-3 among his cheering teammates and spectators.
To put this match in perspective, the Bobcats had been shutout in their past previous efforts against Hempfield and were unable to score any individual wins.
Other members of the team were also successful as well. Wins were posted by Trenton Clouser, Matt Murry, Carter Crebs, Evan Gibbs, Seth Sidle, Sam Gatchell, Joe Weihbrecht, Daniel Mohney, Josh Taylor, Brandon Shirk, Blake Lemelman and Holt Dallam.
Overall, it was a great day for the Bobcats and they appreciated the incredible fan support! The team travels to Dallastown next Monday in what will be another great match!
Tonight there is a softball game at York Suburban at 4:15. Good luck girls!

Attention boys basketball players - you must turn in your uniforms, practice gear, and travel gear by the end of today, or suffer formal sanctions. Gear may be turned in to Coach Eyster in room 300 or to Mr. Stephens in the Athletic Office.
