Good Morning Northeastern! Here is this week in sports:
The NBA had some insane action this week! On Monday, The Cavaliers stunned the Knicks because of a huge 4th quarter comeback led by LeBron James who had a team high of 23 points. On Tuesday, the Celtics pushed their win streak to 13 as they beat the Nets 109-102. On Wednesday night, Joel Embid’s 46 point game led the Sixers to beat Lonzo Ball’s Lakers 115-109. Last night, the Celtics pushed their win streak even further to 14 as they defeated the Warriors 92-88.
The new College Football playoff rankings were released on Tuesday with Alabama topping off at #1, Clemson rising to #2, Miami moving up to #3, and Heisman favorite Baker Mayfield’s Oklahoma Sooners entering the rankings at #4. Wisconsin and Auburn are in the hunt sitting at #5 and #6.
College Basketball is just getting into action this week. The #1 Duke Blue Devils topped The #2 Michigan State Spartans on tuesday 88-81 led by Grayson Allen’s 37 point game. Also, the 4th ranked Kansas Jayhawks beat the seventh ranked Kentucky Wildcats 65-61 on the same night.
In the NFL: The Panthers blew out the Dolphins on Monday night 45-21 led by Cam Newton’s 4 touchdowns. Last night, Antonio Brown’s 10 catch, 3 touchdown game led the Steelers to beat the Titans 40-17. This weekend, the Eagles- Cowboys rivalry will be highlighted on Sunday night as Carson Wentz tries to lead his one loss team for a win in enemy territory to stay on top in the NFL power rankings. Now for some school related sports announcements!
Attention swimmers and divers, we will have a team meeting TODAY at 2:45 in the 9th grade cafeteria followed by practice until 5:00. Please make sure to bring your Chromebook to the meeting.
Today, boys basketball try-outs will be taking place in the High School Gym from 3:00 until 5:30. Those individuals fortunate enough to make the varsity or jv roster will have practice Saturday morning from 11:00 until 1:00; and Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00.
Girls Basketball tryouts are also this Today! They are at 6pm-8pm in the middle school gym and tomorrow, Saturday, from 9am-11am in the high school gym. Any girls that want to play on the team must be at these tryouts.
And anyone interested in trying out for cheerleading who did not try out in the Spring should attend practice November 19th and 20th from 3:00-5:00 in the high school auxiliary gym.
